Biographie

 

Praised as “an artist who leads with musical intelligence and technical assurance (La scena musicale), Vancouver-born soprano Bridget Esler is a young artist with the Atelier lyrique de l’Opéra de Montréal. Bridget has performed across Canada, Europe, the United Kingdom and the United States with ensembles such as the London Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal. This season, Bridget sings the roles of Zerlina (understudy) in Don Giovanni (Opéra de Montréal), The Governess in The Turn of the Screw (Atelier lyrique / NACO) and Barena in Jenůfa (Opéra de Montréal). She goes on tour with the Marlboro Music Festival’s popular chamber music touring program to venues including Carnegie Hall, and appears as a soloist with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. Recent highlights include a Second Place Win at the 86th OSM Competition, Mélodie Prize, Lied Prize, and New Commission Prize wins at the 13th Nadia and Lili Boulanger International Piano-Voice Competition, Joyce DiDonato’s renowned masterclass series at Carnegie Hall, a third-place finish in the Gerda Lissner Song Competition, and her debut on the stage of the Opéra de Montréal in the role of Berta in Il Barbiere di Siviglia..
