Biographie
Recognized for her “captivating, velvety timbre” and her “mastery of low and high notes that enhance her artistry with captivating intensity,” Quebec mezzo-soprano Justine Ledoux was named one of the CBC’s 30 Hot Classical Musicians Under 30 in 2025 and is the recipient of that same year’s Choquette-Symcox Award. In 2026, she will sing Mrs. Grose in The Turn of the Screw with the Atelier lyrique de l’Opéra de Montréal, in collaboration with the NACO, understudy Carmen at the Opéra de Montréal, and fly to Tours to participate in the Académie Francis Poulenc. This distinction was awarded to her following her performance of Debussy’s Chansons de Bilitis at the 2025 OSM Competition. Among her recent projects, she has notably distinguished herself in the roles of Serena Joy in The Handmaid’s Tale at the Banff Centre and Pastuchyna in Jenůfa at the Opéra de Montréal. She has also performed Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia (Brott Opera), Wellgunde in Das Rheingold (Calgary Opera), Marcellina in Le nozze di Figaro (Calgary Opera), and Mercédès in Carmen (Calgary Opera). A graduate of the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal and the McPhee Program at Calgary Opera, she is currently studying with Lena Hellström-Färnlöf.
Justine Ledoux’s residency is made possible through artistic sponsorship by the Dupont Family.
