Between love and memory
A programme exploring the inner life, from the austere masterpiece of Hugo Wolf’s Michelangelo Lieder to Debussy’s sensual symbolist-inspired Le balcon and the refined lyricism of Roger Quilter’s early 20th century English songs.
Featuring the young artists of Opéra de Montréal’s Atelier lyrique: baritone Dante Mullin Santone (Winner, Jim and Charlotte Norcop Prize for Song and Lied Performance); soprano Odile Portugais (Grand Prix du Concours musical de Lanaudière, Prix d’excellence de l’Opéra bouffe du Québec); baritone Colin Mackey (Winner, Corcoran Concerto Competition – Glenn Gould School of Music; graduate, Calgary Opera MacPhee Artist Program), accompanied by pianists Tony Stauffer and Martin Dubé.
With songs by Ives, Wolf, Korngold, Poulenc, Quilter, Swanson, and Debussy.
