Ellita Gagner

Ellita Gagner, mezzo-soprano – Halifax (NS) 

Canadian mezzo-soprano Ellita Gagner has been praised for her “beautiful, warm voice” (La Scena Musicale) and hailed as a “discovery” by Classical Voice America. A graduate of the University of Toronto Opera School, Western University, and the Rebanks Fellowship, she has performed widely across Canada, singing roles such as Cendrillon, L’Enfant, Lysistrata, Hänsel, Dorabella, Tisbe, Miss Jessel, and Tetka. She has appeared with Opera Nova Scotia, the Brott Festival, Chorus Niagara, and other ensembles. In 2026–27, she will perform Célénia in Atys and Countess Ceprano in Rigoletto at Opéra de Montréal, sing the alto solos in Mozart’s Requiem, debut as Dido in Dido and Aeneas, join Toronto Summer Music as a Fellow, and participate in workshops of Siyavash and A Prayer for Owen Meany.
