Tessa Fackelmann

Tessa Fackelmann, mezzo-soprano – Ottawa (ON)  

Praised for her charm and vocal versatility, mezzo-soprano Tessa Fackelmann is gaining recognition on Canadian and international stages. She was a National Semifinalist in the 2024 Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition and an International Finalist in the 2025 Hans Gabor Belvedere Competition. She is also the recipient of the Grand Jury Prize at Opéra de Montréal’s Talent Gala and Edmonton Opera’s Rumbold Vocal Prize. An alumna of the Santa Fe Opera Apprentice Program and Wolf Trap Opera, she holds degrees from Rice University and the University of Ottawa. Recent roles include Cherubino, Karolka, the Fox in The Little Prince, and Mercedes. In 2026–27, she debuts as Rosina in The Barber of Seville (Edmonton Opera), covers Charlotte, Octavian, and Maddalena at Opéra de Montréal, and makes her role debut as the Composer in Ariadne auf Naxos (Sarasota Opera).
