Together, the Opéra de Montréal and La SAMS organize opera concerts in healthcare facilities. By sharing the beauty of the human voice, these concerts bring comfort, connection, and well-being to vulnerable groups.
Description
The Opéra de Montréal and La SAMS (Société pour les arts en milieu de santé) work together to bring opera to those in healthcare facilities. This partnership allows Opéra de Montréal singers to present concerts designed specifically for hospital patients, nursing home residents, and other vulnerable individuals.
La SAMS’s mission is to bring the benefits of music to people in the healthcare system. The organization has reached over 850 establishments across Quebec. With more than 1500 concerts every year, it is the largest Québécois network of professional musicians in care settings. Drawing on years of expertise and experience, La SAMS has joined forces with the Opéra de Montréal to create sensitive and intimate opera experiences that are carefully adapted to the needs of their audience.
This joint project illustrates our shared conviction that music and opera are powerful tools in improving physical, psychological, and social well-being. Our two organizations are proud to bring opera to hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation centres, and other residential care settings, creating spaces of comfort, beauty, and human connection at the heart of healthcare.
