Dress rehearsals for students
The Opéra de Montréal gives specialized arts schools free access to a rehearsal performance.
At the opera, everything needs to be running perfectly before the curtain rises on opening night. That’s why we have dress rehearsals.

Description
There’s always a sense of feverish excitement as an opera’s artists and artisans run through the show one last time. The Opéra de Montréal is proud to share these moments with its most demanding and enthusiastic audience members – children and teenagers.
2025-2026 SEASON
- Mozart’s Don Giovanni: Thursday, September 25, 2025 – FULL
- Janáček’s Jenůfa: Thursday, November 20, 2025 – FULL
- Sokolović’s Clown(s): Thursday, January 29, 2026 – FULL
- Bizet’s Carmen: Thursday, April 30, 2026 – FULL
All dress rehearsals are at 7 PM.
ELIGIBILITY
Our student dress rehearsals become more popular every year. To allow as many young people as possible to experience the opera, the program is now limited to one dress rehearsal per class per season.
- Music and arts students ONLY, ages 5 to 17
- Maximum of 2 MUSIC/ARTS classes (36 students per class) per institution
- Primary school: 1 chaperone per 8 students
- High school: 1 chaperone per 15 students
- Limited availability: first come, first served
- Schools that do not honour their reservations will lose access to the student dress rehearsal program.
All booking requests must be submitted via our sign-up form. Our team will let you know as soon as possible whether your request has been approved.
