RESPIRER
Opera as a tool for respiratory healing
RESPIRER was designed for people living with respiratory complications from COVID-19. In this virtual clinic, participants use operatic vocal technique to help ease their respiratory symptoms.
Description du programme
RESPIRER is an alternative care program developed by the Opéra de Montréal in collaboration with the IRCM post-COVID-19 Research Clinic. Designed by mezzo-soprano and yoga teacher Charlotte Gagnon, these singing workshops teach participants to control their diaphragm and intercostal muscles using operatic vocal techniques helping them breathe more deeply. Inspired by the BREATHE initiative at the English National Opera, this program takes place over video-conference to better serve people suffering from respiratory complications and anxiety after contracting COVID-19.
