“If something were to happen to me, I feel at peace. I know that the gift from my estate will help the Opera continue its mission. The joy the Opera has brought me is something I want to see it carry into the future.”
- Raymonde Lavoie, monthly donor and Ambassadors’ Circle member
A legacy gift is a unique way to honour the importance of opera in one’s life.
By naming the Opéra de Montréal among the beneficiaries of your Will, you can insure the needs of your heirs are preserved, while making a meaningful gesture for the future of opera in Montréal.
A legacy gift can take three forms:
Specific bequest:
“I bequeath, as a specific gift to the Opéra de Montréal, a registered charitable organization (#104004569 RR 0001), the amount of $X.”
Universal bequest:
“I bequeath X% of all my movable and immovable property to my children. And I bequeath X% of all my movable and immovable property to the Opéra de Montréal (#104004569 RR 0001).”
Legs résiduaire :
“I bequeath, as a specific gift, the amount of $X to my nephew (my niece, my brother, my sister, my close friend, etc.). And I bequeath the residue of all my movable and immovable property to the Opéra de Montréal (#104004569 RR 0001).”
HOW TO PROCEED?
DID YOU KNOW THAT...
Aside from leaving a bequest in your Will, you can support the Opéra de Montréal by naming it as the beneficiary of your RRSP-RRIF, life insurance policy, or donor-advised fund.
